Regulation of Ion Formation in Atmospheric Pressure Negative Corona Discharges and Its Application in Modern Mass Spectrometry
Atmospheric pressure corona discharge has been used as an ionizer in a wide range of research fields and commercial electric appliances. However, the elementary processes involved in ion formation occurring in corona discharge are not yet well understood. I have studied negative ion formation mechanism using mass spectrometry and calculations of inhomogeneous electric field distribution. In this talk, I will highlight my findings about how the negative ion formation can be regulated in the corona discharge.
