Effect of Non-Aromatic Organic Acids on the Ionization of Polymers with Cluster Ion Beam Irradiation
In this study, some non-aromatic organic acids were added to polymer model sample to investigate the effect of the enhancement of ionization efficiency. PEG (polyethylene glycol) of average molecular weight of 2000 g/mol was used as model polymer, and the ion species irradiated onto the sample was Bi32+. Citric acid and Glutaric acid were added to PEG2000 and the enhancement of ionization efficiency could be confirmed in both cases. In addition, the optimum ratio of the concentration of non-aromatic organic acid to polymer substances was investigated. The anticipated mechanism of the enhancement of ionization efficiency occurred by non-aromatic organic acids will be proposed in the presentation.
