Advances in comprehensive measurement technologies such as the mass spectrometry and the new generation sequencer are providing landscapes of each ‘omic’ layer. We have been developing methodologies for ‘trans-omic’ analysis1-3) that allows reconstruction of global mechanistic molecular networks that come across multiple omic layers based on multiple omic data with the support of public databases and software. To elucidate global regulatory pathways of the metabolism by the insulin-dependent signaling, trans-omic analyses that integrate phosphoprotome and metabolome were performed4, 5). Consequently, we have succeeded in reconstructing a trans-omic network underlying the acute insulin action. In this seminar, I will introduce usually unspoken parts of the trans-omic analysis: (i) basic usages of the public databases and software, (ii) conversion of layer-specific IDs, and (iii) enzyme kinetics that is implicitly embedded in trans-omics.
