Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization (ToMMo) operates two types of prospective cohort studies: the Community-Based Cohort Study and the Birth and Three-Generation Cohort Study. At the first stage (from 2013 to 2017), more than 150,000 participants were successfully recruited. From 2017, we are conducting the repeat assessment survey as a second stage. We collect and store wide variety of biospecimen and information from cohort participants and operate omics and genome analyses, because molecular profiling of each participant is important for investigating the associations of genetic and environmental factors with phenotypes. In our omics research, we perform the non-target type of metabolome analysis of plasma using two analytical methods: NMR and MS. We have already obtained the omics data (metabolome and proteome) from more than 5,000 participants and released as a database, Japanese Multi Omics Reference Panel (jMorp, https://jmorp.megabank.tohoku.ac.jp/). We also conduct association studies of these omics data with genome and other cohort data and already reported the first results of the metabolome genome-wide association study (MGWAS) for more than 500 cohort samples. We are expanding the targets of the omics analyses including MGWAS and will release near future.
