Steroid hormones are heavily involved with the control of metabolism, neurotransmission, and intracellular signaling, playing critical roles in the proper functioning of the body. Therefore, quantitation of steroids is needed in clinical research. Especially, in order to determine steroids of same molecular weight correctly, it is important to optimize separation condition of these steroids. But a large number of candidate conditions have to be examined and this process requires extensive method development. We have examined steroids separation using both SFC and HPLC more efficiently. This system has two solvent delivery pumps and one carbon dioxide delivery pump, and can be used for SFC and HPLC with the single instrument. Here we report the process of high efficiency method development of steroids by using SFC and HPLC in a single sequence.
