Measurement method and determination of halogenated bisphenol A congeners in effluent from sewage treatment plant by LC/MS/MS
Chlorinated bisphenol A congeners are unintentionally generated from bisphenol A and its brominated products such as tetraboromobisphenol A in sewage treating process with sodium hypochlorite. Chloro- and bromo- bisphenol A are of large interest as probable precursors of halogenated dioxins. However, no method was found for separately determining the chloro- and the bromo- bisphenol A congeners. A measurement method has been developed to separately determine bisphenol A and all of the chlorinated and the brominated congeners possibly generated from bisphenol A by LC/MS/MS.
