Imaging mas spectrometry for visualization of steroid hormones in tissues.
We employed a MALID imaging mass spectrometry coupled with on-tissue derivatization method with use of Girard-T reagent for steroid hormone imaging. In rat adrenal grand tissues, owing to high mass resolving power and sensitivity of FT-MS (Solarix, Bruker), we successfully visualized not only corticosterone, but also aldosterone which existed at very low concentration in bodies.
