Detecting Chiral Recognition Ability of the Chiral Host by Liquid-MALDI-MS
We examined to detect chirality in matrix assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry coupled with the enantiomer labeled guest method, which was proposed by Sawada et al. Achiral host consisting of a bisoxyethylene chain and two galactose moieties at the both ends and deuterated S and R organic ammonium ion guest were used as a competitive host-guest complex equilibrium system. As use a liquid matrix consisting in 3,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid and 3-nitrobenzyl alcohol, chiral discrimination of the chiral host toward the chiral organic ammonium ion guest was observed.
