Due to poor sensitivity of high resolution LC/MS, LC/MS/MS have been widely used to detect trace pesticide transformation products in water environments (PTPWs). Standard chemical reagents of PTPWs are needed to decide SRM, RT, ESI conditions and so on for the LC/MS/MS analysis. But no reagents are often available for newly found (unknown) PTPWs. Thus in the present study, by coupling high resolution LC/MS and LC/MS/MS, a method for detecting unknown PTPWs without reagents was developed. The developed method was applied to detect five unknown PTPWs from the actual environmental samples.
