Frontier in biological glycoprotein analysis by mass spectrometry

(Yokohama City Univ.)

Analysis of biological glycoproteins by mass spectrometry is challenging because of the heterogeneity of glycosylation and ionization suppression by co-existing peptides and surfactant agents. To overcome these problems we have developed glycopeptide enrichment methods and a high-throughput glycoproteomic approach using endoglycosidases. These methods are successfully used in the glycosylation analysis of serum, ER and membrane glycoproteins.
