There are some serious problems in quantitative analysis for metabolomics using gas chromatography / mass spectrometry (GC/MS), which are causing of the stability of sample and standard solutions including the responsive to trimethylsilyl (TMS) derivatization, and the matrix effects on MS ionization, and others. We measured the matrix influence on MS intensity during the comparison of standard solutions and extracts from yeast and serum. The effect of enhancement was observed on organic acids, sugars and nucleic acid bases, although the results of amino acids must be studied in detail.
