Temperature Dependence of Proton Transfer for Insulin and Insulin Chain B Ions

(Yokohama City Univ.)

Temperature dependence of proton transfer for isolated insulin and insulin chain B ions with gaseous molecules that have large proton affinity was investigated with mass spectrometry. In the present experiment, a home-made tandem mass spectrometer with ESI was used. Absolute reaction rate constants were determined from intensities of parent and product ions in the mass spectra at each temperature. Temperature dependence of reaction rate constants is related to conformation of protonated ions. We discussed changes of ion’s conformation with temperature dependence of reaction rate constants.
