Thermodynamic Measurement of Fe-RE System by Mass Spectrometry and Recycling of RE from Wasted Magnets
Thermodynamic information of RE (rate earth) metal in Fe-RE alloys is very important for design a recovery process of the RE elements from wasted product. In this study the activities of RE metals in Fe-RE alloys are measured by double Knudsen cell mass spectrometry. And the Gibbs energies of formation of intermetallic compounds between RE metal and Fe were estimated. Then a new recovery process of Nd and Dy from wasted magnets was designed using the data.
