Development of Highly Sensitive APCI LC/MS Method for Analysis of Alkyl Benzenes

Alkyl benzenes contained abundantly in heavy oil had been difficult to be ionized by API used for LC/MS. So, analysis conditions were studied to improve the sensitivity of the poorly ionized compounds such as alkyl benzenes in ACPI/LC/MS for the elucidation of the composition of heavy oil. As a result of this study, it was found that the sensitivity of ACPI/LC/MS was increased by reducing the flow rate of the mobile phase.
