Development of a novel apparatus for analyzing minerals in a single strand of hair
Trace element composition of hair is susceptive to disposition behaviors of body minerals. A single strand of hair contains a decodable long-term track record of the disposition behaviors, which can be used for meta-early diagnosis of progressive disease such as cancer. This study aims at developing a prototype of a compact clinical analyzer for analyzing trace elements in a single strand of hair based on laser ablation mass spectrometry. Mass spectra were obtained from hair specimens of a healthy donor using the prototype apparatus. Some spectral peaks were most likely attributable to minerals.
