Photoionization (PI) method is well known as very soft ionization method. PI can produce molecular ion. In this study, we measured several commercially oils with additives by using GC/PI-MS. Some additives were detected higher intensity than hydrocarbon, because the additives including aromatic structures with low ionization energies. In the PI, peak intensities are dependent on the ionization energy of compounds and are dependent on the output of the light power corresponding to the ionization energy. We will compare the mass spectra of several oils, and we will report the ways to use the measured data of PI method and usefulness of PI.
