In recent years, from the standpoint of product development and quality assurance in polymeric materials field, it is very important to grasp the influence of small amount substances to the quality, like polymer additives, in the product. UV spectral matching with Photo diode array (PDA) detector is used to identify the compounds. If basic structures are similar like hidered phenolic anitioxidants however, it is sometimes difficult to distinguish each compound correctly. While mass spectrometer is very useful tool to identify compounds, complicated tuning and complex data processing is often required. Waters have developed new compact quadrupole mass spectrometer (ACQUITY QDa) that is no longer required for optimization for ionization condition and complicated tuning. By using ACQUITY QDa detector with PDA detector and spectrum matching, identification of accuracy and sensitivity is improved, even in compounds having non UV absorption. We introduce the usability of the spectrum database matching for peak identification in polymer additives analysis in this report.
