When acute intoxication cases involving natural toxins occur, it is mandatory to identify causative compounds rapidly. Although we have reported the simultaneous screening method for natural toxins by LC/Q-TOFMS, there is a pressing need to develop a higher sensitive screening method by using a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer because some natural toxins can show acute toxicity at extremely low dose. AB Sciex QTRAP6500 system is one of the highest sensitive mass spectrometers, and it is highly expected that combination use of a micro LC with QTRAP6500 system has potential to dramatically improve sensitivity. In this study, we developed a high sensitive screening method of 50 natural toxins by using a micro LC and QTRAP 6500 LC/MS/MS system.
