Improved ionization efficiency of glyceride analysis in foods using DART-MS with Corona++ option.

Direct analysis in real time (DART) mass spectrometry enable sample analysis without any preparation, however some contaminants suppress ionization efficiency. In order to improve DART ionization efficiency, we have developed Corona++ option consisting of a needle electrode for DC corona discharges. Ionization efficiency of glycerides was improved that enable sufficient ion current to MS/MS analysis. This combination resulted in the significant improvement of DART ionization efficiency without unnecessary secondary reactions.
