Perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) have been of environmental concern because a part of PFCs, such as PFOS, has bioaccumulation potentcy and health adverse effect. Some kinds of fire extinguishant formulations include PFCs and have been considered one of PFOS pollution sources. To understand environmental burden from fire extinguishant formulations, analyses by liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry were performed. Although the substructure of PFOS was not identified, its short chain analog was observed in the studied product.
