Methylamine in methane was evaluated as chemical ionization (CI) reagent gas by GC/Q-TOF. The [M+CH3NH3]+ or [M+H]+ was found as base peak for many compounds. The fragment ions formed were less than those by methane for most compounds. The [M+C2H5]+ and [M+C3H5]+, derived from methane, were also found for compounds that have large [M+H]+ peak. The [M+C3H7NH3]+ and [M+C4H7NH3]+, derived from both methylamine and methane, were also found for several compounds at a low intensity. The principal product ion from [M+CH3NH3]+ was methylammonium ion without exception.
