From a safety and quality management standpoint, it is imperative to have an effective and efficient measure to detect and identify impurities and contaminants in foods, drugs and any other applications. Use of conventional methodology oftentimes becomes unexpectedly time-consuming, facing difficulties in comparing, confirming and identifying compounds without UV absorption. Additionally, a known automated product ion scan function mostly fails to detect a trace amount of impurities and contaminants.
To overcome those limitations, we propose an effective measure, use of a combination of QqTOF MS and novel software of identifying impurities that enables us to perform comprehensive detection of impurities in melatonin, a supplement for biological rhythm adjustment.
