We developed a novel FAIMS device that can detect ion species with different compensation voltages simultaneously. In the conventional configuration, the scanning time of the compensation voltage reduces the detection cycle; the scanning time and separating resolution are in a trade-off relationship. Our device uses a semi-conductive electrode, which enables different compensation DC voltages to be created at each position. Ions that are separately transmitted at each position can be detected with each channel of an array IonCCD detector. Using this device, ions produced with an electrospray source from a liquid sample can be measured at an atmospheric pressure without scanning the device’s CV voltage at every 100 ms.
