We developed two rapid diagnosis methods to analyze acute drug poisoning. Analysis results can be obtained within 10 min. The methods use a combination of the modified QuEChERS method and either flow injection (FI)-MS/MS or laser diode thermal desorption (LDTD)-MS/MS. FI-MS/MS is a fast method (analysis time = 1.5 min) to detect a wide range of drugs from whole blood. For actual forensic cases, the qualitative results roughly matched with the results of the standard LC-MS/MS technique. LDTD-MS/MS is an ultrafast method (analysis time = 10 sec) and is considered to be effective for detecting specific drugs. However, some drugs are not ionized by the LDTD system and it is difficult to obtain product ion spectra for multiple drugs in a single analysis.
