エレクトロスプレーイオン化-イオンモビリティタンデム型質量分析法による高荷電ポリメタクリル酸メチルの末端構造解析

In this study, we demonstrated the potential of electrospray ionization-ion mobility spectrometry-tandem MS (ESI-IMS-MS/MS) with collision-induced charge stripping (CICS) and Fourier transform (FT) based noise filtering method for analyzing polymers of over 10 kDa with most abundant peak. The mass spectrum obtained by ESI-IMS-MS/MS with CICS for standard polymethylmethacrylates (PMMAs) weighing 13-17 kDa contains relatively high intensity noises and the identification of the most abundant peak was impossible. On the other hand, the most abundant peak was clearly identified from the mass spectra after the FT base noise filtering, and the estimation of end group composition was successfully achieved. In addition, the analysis of PMMAs synthesized by free radical polymerization, weighing approximately 12 kDa resulted in the successful identification of three initial end groups and two terminal groups (saturated and unsaturated), i.e., six types of PMMAs were identified.
