自然環境におけるヨウ素同位体システムの研究

We investigated the natural iodine isotope system, the distribution of I-129 and I-127. In natural environment, without the artificially produced I-129, the sources of I-129 are limited to the cosmic ray interaction and the spontaneous fission of natural U-238. The primary interest is the equilibrium isotopic ratio of I-129/I-127. According to J. Moran (1998), it is 1.5E-12 from the measurement of seafloor sediments. On the other hand we previously determined I-129/I-127 ratio of deep sea water of Indian ocean to be 2.0E-13. To examine this discrepancy, we examined the geochemical cycle of iodine. As a result, it was suggested that the incomplete iodine mixing is possible with certain parameter of iodine dynamics.
