Effect of Selective GC Detectors with GC/Q-TOF for Structure Estimation
Molecular form can be estimated by the accurate mass and isotopic ratios using the accurate mass spectrometer such as the time-of-flight (TOF); however, the estimation is challenging when there is no information on the elements in the target compound or the molecular weight is larger, due to the deviation of the accurate mass from the theoretical absolute mass, resulting in difficulty in determining the composition. This difficulty can be reduced when combining the TOF with the complementary GC detector of GC/MS, i.e. the selective detector that detects specific compounds containing the elements such as Sulfur (SCD, FPD), Nitrogen (NPD) and so on. In this poster, we investigated the experiment of the same sample simultaneous detection of the mass spectrometer (TOF) and nitrogen phosphorus detector (NPD).
