安定同位体メタロミクス−精密同位体比測定と元素代謝指標としての活用−
Stable isotopic signature of metal elements, such as, calcium (Ca), iron, copper, and zinc, can be used as an indicator for detecting the changes in elemental metabolism. Among these, Ca isotope ratio (44Ca/42Ca) varies significantly among organs. The Ca isotope ratio of bone tissue is lower than that of serum, suggesting that large isotope fractionation occurs during bone formation process. Based on the difference in Ca isotope ratio between bone and serum, changes in calcium metabolism can be detected. In this presentation, we will introduce our latest studies on precise isotope ratio measurements of Ca to evaluate the potential use of Ca isotope ratio as an indicator for metabolic disorder of Ca.
