Mechanism of [M-H]+ formation under FAB ionization conditions of benzene compound having methoxymethyl group

In the positive-ion fast atom bombardment ionization, analyte ion of 1-methoxy-4-methoxymethylbenzene (MMB, Mr 152) was detected as a dehydride peak of [M−H]+ at m/z 151. In the case of MMB deuterated at the benzyl position (C9H10D2O2, Mr 154), the corresponding peak was observed at m/z 152. In this results we elucidated the formation process of [M−H]+ of MMB under FAB ionization conditions.
