Murine experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) is the most common animal model for multiple sclerosis (MS). Here we applied matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) imaging mass spectrometry (IMS) for the neuropathological study of EAE. With the multivariate analysis including probabilistic latent semantic analysis (pLSA), we have confirmed that IMS is well suited for the visualization of spatial distributions of immune cells migrating into EAE brains as well as into spinal cords.
