ガスクロマトグラフ質量分析計による潰瘍性大腸炎の診断、ならびに、病勢評価マーカー探索

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which involves chronic and recurring inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, is composed of two major subtypes, ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD). The diagnosis of IBD is dependent on comprehensive criteria on the basis of the results from clinical, endoscopic, histological and radiological examinations, but these examinations are expensive and need a long time, resulting in difficulty achieving an early diagnosis. In this study, we focused on UC, and performed serum metabolomics to develop diagnostic and assessment methods for UC. Sera from UC patients and healthy volunteers (HV) were collected at multiple institutions, and their serum metabolites were analyzed by gas chromatography mass spectrometry. The diagnostic and assessment models for UC were established by multiple logistic regression analysis. The diagnostic model for discriminating UC from HV demonstrated 96.67% accuracy. The model for assessing UC showed 88.33% accuracy. Taken together, our models based on serum metabolomics displayed high performance and expected to be clinical application.
